Bootleg artbooks.
These three books just popped up on eBay earlier, and all three of them are bootlegs. They’re a really good price, so it might be tempting, but I just want to get the word out that these are not legitimate copies. The easiest way to tell on art books I and II is on the obi (the gold wrap that goes outside the cover). The katakana for Sailor Moon is incorrect and says se-te-mu-n instead of se-ra-mu-n (see highlighted section). The obi on book II is a copy from book I, as it talks about the Dark Kingdom (who do not appear in the second story arc of the manga, which this book is for). Whoever manufactured these bootlegs fixed the mistake after volume II, so it’s correct on the other books. Another telltale sign of a bootleg is the first page of the books. The paper should be a translucent tissue paper, not the crackly looking white paper seen in these books.
The printing on the bootleg art books is pretty decent, and the paper quality is nice. The liner notes are really hard to read in the back, as the text is really fuzzy.
I know some people don’t care about owning bootlegs, but if you want to know how to tell the fakes from the real ones, this is it.
